DESCRIPTION: Founded in 1984, the Boston GreenSpace Alliance is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection, creation, care, and use of Boston's parks and open spaces.

The Alliance typically operates on the scale of the entire city, although it has been deeply involved in individual projects such as the Charles River Basin and the Boston University Pavilion.

In 2002, the Boston Greenspace Alliance had no particular focus in the Heart of the City, although a member of the Alliance staff is on the board of the Boston Nature Center.

The organization is attempting to advocate for and report on the status of the entire network of open spaces in Boston.
