DESCRIPTION:

BikeBoston is the local chapter of the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition. BikeBoston in turn leads a coalition of organizations and community groups that want to see a multi-use greenway path system from end to end of the Emerald Necklace, including the Arnold Arboretum and Franklin Park.

In 1999, Bike Boston received a $10,000 grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management to improve the connections between the sections of the Emerald Necklace. BikeBoston has identified six major places where the continuity of the necklace is broken, including four in the Heart of the City.
