DESCRIPTION:

A study of urban forests in Roxbury and North Dorchester, including the relationship between land use type and tree cover, as well as how tree cover has changed over time. The conclusions of the study are that recreational, institutional, and residential land use supports high levels of tree canopy cover, whereas industrial, commercial, and transportation land uses support lower levels of tree canopy cover. It also finds that there was an increase in tree cover between 1952 and 1984.
